Cay Raff

(They/Them)

“The only natural talent an artist has is the desire to create”

– Ben Cato

Cay Raff is a graduate of The University of North Carolina School of The Arts studying Stage Properties. With over 6 years of experience working in various types of theatrical and fabrication environments, they consider themselves a collaborative artist who enjoys the process of making with others.

Their core belief as a creator is the importance of adaptability, the idea of turning something unlikely into your wildest dreams. Cay also values education and the knowledge that can come from sharing the process with others and learning from them in turn. Considering themselves a jack-of-all-trades, they love to learn and add new tools and techniques to their repertoire no matter the discipline.

Outside of work, Cay enjoys woodturning, miniature painting, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and playing Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Cay's notable positions include Props Carpentry Staff at the Santa Fe Opera (2024), Shop Foreperson(s) & Assistant Shop Foreperson (Spring 2023- Spring 2024) for UNCSA's prop shop, Props Carpentry Staff at the Santa Fe Opera (2024), and Lead Artisan for UNCSA's Roe and Twelfth Night (2023/2024), and Assistant FX for UNCSA's Indecent (2021).
